LOUIS VUITTON is in an interesting spot right now. Even though the brand has long wanted to put more of an emphasis on its leather goods and deflect a bit of attention from its iconic monogram and Damier canvases, monograms are gaining popularity, and now it has to find a way to both stoke its leather business and capitalize on a conflicting trend in which it already fits perfectly.
On the whole, Vuitton is doing a strong job in finding new ways to use its monogram, and one of those is with new, slightly more subtle versions like the Monogram Eclipse that debuted at the brand's Fall 2016 men's show in Paris. The greyscaled version was developed under the oversight of men's creative director Kim Jones, and it provides a muted, sporty option for those who aren't into the traditional brown.
The collection also included navy and olive leather, plus some new bag shapes; one of particular note reminds me a lot of a luxury leather version of the canvas messengers Manhattan bike couriers frequently use. You can check out all the show's accessories below.
